The energy industry
The energy industry faces many challenges in years to come, e.g. resources, supply, climate and environment. Regarding the environment the most recent and critical challenge was the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in the spring 2010. The pressure to reduce the environmental impacts from both environmental groups, consumer organizations and governments will increase dramatically in the future. Whether global warming is manmade or not the debate itself is very sensitive and is near to many people's heart.

At the same time as Denmark has been experiencing a
liberalization of the electricity market there has been a
concentration of the market through mergers and acquisitions. The
Government has set targets for green energy and which means that
the local supply in some cases is regulated forcing citizens to use
specefic sources of energy: district heating, natural gas or
something else, eventhough you prefer to use solar, wind or
geothermal heat. In the debate different parties argue for the use
of different forms of energy, e.g. should vi use biofuels or is
nuclear power a better altenative?
In the area of transport a lot has been done to diffuse the use
of electrically powered vehicles or hybrids. Municipalities
announce themself as environmental and take the lead when it comes
to using electric-powered cars e.g. in home care. Some politicians
want to get traffic out of the big cities completely, but for now
only heavy vehicles are required to reduce emissions by using
filters.
